China Guardian calls for a date with all art lovers in this beautiful autumn.
Starting on Sept 23, the 59th China Guardian Quarterly Auctions will present more than 5,500 pieces of art in 13 sessions for an auction extravaganza.
The preview of this auction will be held from Sept 23 to 25, and bidding runs from Sept 26 to 29, both at the Convention Center of the Beijing International Hotel. Categories include Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Ceramics, Jade, Works of Art, Rare Books, Manuscripts and others for a total of 13 sessions. A wide range of items is eagerly anticipated.

Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy
Quarterly Auctions - the Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Department has set up six sessions with a total of 2,521 items.
Three sessions of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy offers items gathered by senior collectors, presenting pieces by artists like Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Lu Yanshao, Fu Ru, Yu Youren, Cheng Shifa, and Huang Chunyao. One session of Contemporary Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy has many featured sections, presenting artworks by Shi Qi, Wang Xijing, Chen Zizhuang, Wu Yifeng, and Yuan Wu. Two sessions of Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy include nearly 800 items with various themes, such as characters, landscapes, flowers and birds.

Two private collection sessions, “Collection of Ruizhangshan” and “Collection of Juzhentang” are presented in this season. They mainly include classic porcelain from official kilns in the Qing Dynasty, of excellent grade.

“Charm of the Important Porcelains & Pleasure in the Palm” are two night sessions that have been held for a long time during Quarterly Auctions. This time, the department again combines them into one to be auctioned at one night. As usual, the department carefully selected 100 pieces of porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties, forming six sectors in “Charm of the Important Porcelains”. In "Pleasure in the Palm", the department focuses on presenting some well-known palm porcelain pieces, including some items from well-known museums and important private collections.

“Porcelain Collections of Guardian’s Companions” is a selection of porcelain collected by Guardian companions at home and abroad. The companions’ preferences vary in different regions, thus, the porcelains have different characteristics. In this season, the department collected nearly 900 pieces of porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republic of China era, thanks to collectors from Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangzhou, Fujian and other places. It is also the largest one both in number and scale since the session was set up.
“Porcelain, Jade and Works of Art” includes Ming and Qing porcelains, jade, bronze, bamboo and wood, and silk enamel.

To meet the development needs of the online auction, the department has slightly adjusted the auction form of some items in the session of "Porcelain, Jade and Works of Art", and moved the jade and part of the works of art to the online auction. Buyers can review the items in person at the preview in the Beijing International Hotel and bid online after the auction starts.
Rare Books, Rubbings and Manuscripts
Nearly 600 items will be offered at this part in autumn, forming two sessions, “Rare Books & Rubbings Book” and “Letters and Manuscripts”.
“Rare Books & Rubbings Book” includes 450 items, covering ancient books, Buddhist books, seal cuttings, rubbings and print paper, with many high-valued items.
