China Guardian is gearing up for another round of spring auctions, which will take place May 17-20 at the Beijing International Hotel.

The popular and well-supported event will contain a wide variety of items, ranging from Chinese paintings and calligraphy, porcelain ware and artworks, ancient books, furniture and wines. A total of 4,000 items will fall under the hammer.

“This year, we remain committed to innovation in our products and services. We are working to boost the collectors’ experience,” said Hu Yanyan, Director, President and CEO of China Guardian.

In the upcoming sales, China Guardian will launch global wine brands, such as Chateau Lafite, Chateau Latour, Chateau Mouton, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Petrus, Chateau Palmer and Chateau Beychevelle. Many of the wines are readily available in Beijing, and the collectors are allowed to bid with a deposit less than 100,000 yuan.

Chinese paintings and calligraphy sales will bring together more than 1,000 works, many of which come from established artists. The highlights include Huang Binhong’s VIEW OF SOUTH PEAK, Fu Baoshi’s SUMMER MOUNTAIN, and Wu Guanzhong’s NEW CITY. In addition, a remarkable collection of Qi Baishi’s paintings will also go under the hammer.

Alongside such diverse modern and contemporary works, traditional ones will remain a critical ingredient in the annual sales. Zhao Mengfu’s LETTER TO JI ZONGYUAN, Liu Yu’s EIGHT SCENES IN TRAVELLING and Gong Xian’s DWELLING IN SUMMER MOUNTAIN will provide an insight into the broad picture of ancient Chinese art.

Another 1,600 porcelain items and artworks will be available throughout the course of the four-day sales. Featured items are a fine blue and white 'flower' dish from the Ming Dynasty, a large white jade-carved 'dragon' brush washer and a yellow nephrite snuff bottle with Shouping’ s poem and flowers from the Qing Dynasty.

Other highlights include a purple clay tea set by Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996) and a fine gilt-bronze Tibetan Buddhist sculpture YAMANTAKA from the 15th century.

The Chinese oil paintings and sculptures sales will feature 300 items, and some were produced by renowned artists in the early 20th century and the 1980s. The highlights are Sadji’s LADY WITH EMERAID DIAMOND and Chen Ren’s BREAK THROUGH.

There will also be ancient books, manuscripts and watches up for auction along with letters written by celebrities.
